Week One Overview: The Case For Love
By Betty Jo Salinas (West Campus AM Leader)
As I've been thinking about the overview this week, I really believe the saying LOVE IS A VERB is more accurate and true than I considered. Consider this: The word LOVE appears in the Bible well over 500 times.
The first time love appears in the Bible is in Genesis 22:2 when God commanded Abraham:
Then He said, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you." (New King James Version)
Right off the bat we see that to God, love is sacrificial and He ultimately points to the future when He himself will give His only Son on the same mountain because of His love for all of us.
Let's look at two (2) more scriptures on love:
And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment.
(Mark 12:30 NKJV)
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. (John 13:34 NKJV)

How precious is this love to you? How are you allowing it to transform you? Do you believe that love is not just for you and is meant to be shared? If so, how will you allow this concept to transform your week? Please share your special LOVE IS A VERB moment to encourage and challenge the rest of us.
Betty Jo is spot on...love is a verb..a commitment. Because He first loved me with compassion and kindness, I want to love others. They will know we are Christians by our love (actions).
